Cruise description
- We start our cruise at the Zefir boat harbour in the centre of the Elbląg Old Town by the Zygmunt August Boulevard, where on the Elbląg river a spectacular show of the opening of one of the two drawbridges awaits us.
- We go by the river to Drużno Lake, which is situated lower than the Buczyniec slipway by nearly 100 m and has been a fauna reserve since 1966. The lake is a former fragment of a bay. Nearly 210 species of water and marsh birds have been observed in the reserve, 7 of which are listed in the Polish Red Book.
- The passengers can use the binoculars available on board to admire these beautiful views. Behind Drużno Lake, a relaxing journey of about 10 km along a section of the Elbląg Canal awaits us, and its culmination is the first slipway from the direction of Elbląg, called Całuny.
- Zefir enters the larry car. The boat on the car is pulled out of the water along the railway rails with the help of hydraulic devices. We cover a nearly 350 m route on dry land from the bottom to the top and ascend by 13 m. After reaching the top of the hill, we leave the larry car to travel along the waterway of the Elbląg Canal to other slipways: Jelenie, 433 m long and 22 m high; Oleśnica, about 480 m long and 24 m high, being the highest; Kąty, about 404 m long and 19 m high.
- The culmination of our trip by Boat on the grass is the Buczyniec Slipway, the “heart” of the Elbląg Canal. The journey along this slipway will be the longest, because the larry car will cover nearly 490 m and rise another 21 m. Behind the top of this slipway, our cruise together ends at the harbour of the Zefir boat.
- In total, during our cruise along the Elbląg Canal we covered nearly 40 km and ascended nearly 100 m above sea level from the start point of the cruise. To illustrate, this height is approximately as much as the tower of St Nicholas's Cathedral, opposite which we started our cruise by boat on the grass.
During the entire journey along the Elbląg Canal, the guests are accompanied by the boat captain's commentary. On board, there is a buffet which offers hot and cold beverages.
Cars and coaches can park on the premises of the Buczyniec Slipway free of charge.
You can also visit the Museum of the History of the Elbląg Canal there*.
*additionally payable
On the premises of the Slipway there is "Tawerna Buczyniec" which serves fast food.**
**it is possible to prepare home-made dinner sets for organised groups.
